Five Years of Nicole: The Heart Behind Sistability

There are people who come to work, and there are people who show up: fully, consistently, with everything they have. Five years ago, Sistability gained the latter when Nicole joined the team. And if you've had the privilege of working alongside her, or being supported by the organisation she helps shape, you already know exactly what we mean. As our Services Manager, Nicole has been central to ensuring the people we support receive the highest standard of care, each and every day.

When Nicole first walked through the door (in a combination HR/Accounts role) she brought something that no job description could have captured. Not just skills, not just experience, but a rare and genuine quality: she actually cares. About the people she works with. About the people Sistability serves. About doing things the right way, even when the right way is the harder way.

The Mama Bear of Sistability

It didn't take long for people to notice. When things got complicated (and in the work Sistability does, complicated is sometimes an understatement) Nicole was the steady presence in the room. When someone needed guidance, she had it. When someone needed reassurance, she offered it without hesitation. When someone simply needed to feel heard, Nicole listened.

That's where the nickname comes from. Mama Bear isn't just a term of affection (though it absolutely is that). It's a recognition of something deeper: that Nicole has, over these five years, become a safe place for the people around her. A go-to. A constant. The kind of colleague and leader who makes you feel like you're not navigating things alone.

Setting a Standard Without a Fuss

One of the most remarkable things about Nicole is how quietly she leads. She doesn't need the spotlight to set an example. She simply does the work with care, with integrity, with a standard of excellence that has gradually, inevitably, shaped the culture of Sistability itself.

She celebrates the team's wins as if they were her own, because to her, they are. She navigates challenges with grace, rarely rattled, always focused on what matters most. She has been part of countless decisions, conversations, and moments that have moved this organisation forward.

That's the thing about people like Nicole. The impact isn't always loud. It accumulates quietly, daily, in the way a team feels more cohesive, in the way a vulnerable person feels more supported, in the way a workplace starts to feel, over time, like something more than just a place you go to do a job.

More Than a Job - A Family

When the team celebrated Nicole's five-year milestone, she responded in the way that perfectly captures who she is: with warmth, with honesty, and without pretence. "This isn't just a job for me," she said. "It's part of my family and I love it and everyone within it. Sistability has supported me as much as I have supported it and I am so grateful to be a part of such an amazing business."

Read those words again. Sistability has supported me as much as I have supported it. That kind of mutual respect between a person and the organisation they pour themselves into, doesn't happen by accident. It's built through years of showing up authentically, through trust earned and extended, through a relationship that grows stronger because both sides invest in it.

Nicole has invested deeply. And Sistability is better for it.

Five Years, Immeasurable Impact

Behind every statistic about the people Sistability supports is a human story. And behind many of those stories, in one form or another, is Nicole, whether through the systems she's helped shape, the culture she's helped build, the team members she's steadied, or the direct impact she's had on the lives of those the organisation exists to serve.

Five years of that adds up to something significant. Not just in numbers, but in meaning.

Here's to Nicole

To five years of showing up with your whole heart. To the warmth you've brought into every room, every conversation, every challenge. To the standard you've quietly set and the example you continue to be.

The work Sistability does matters because of people like you, people who don't just fill a role, but define what that role looks like at its best.

Thank you, Nicole. For everything you've given, everything you've built, and everything you continue to be. Here's to five years, and to many, many more.
