Your assignment letter starts the clock

Once you receive your Support At Home assignment letter, it's time to choose an approved provider — that's what activates your funding. You usually have a limited window (currently 56 days), so your funding isn't delayed. Not sure of your timeframe? We'll explain it in plain English — no pressure.

Good to know

Home Care Packages have moved to Support At Home

The former Home Care Packages (HCP) program has transitioned to Support At Home. If you previously had a Home Care Package, your funding now sits under Support At Home — your approved level stays the same, and you can change providers at any time.

What Support At Home coordination actually involves

What you get

Coordination (previously called care management) is proactive, ongoing oversight — not just paperwork. Some providers simply process invoices and meet compliance. We actively manage your services, so your funding turns into reliable support at home.

Developing and reviewing your support plan
Monitoring your budget and expenditure
Organising and booking your service providers
Liaising with allied health and trades
Troubleshooting service issues
Adjusting supports as your needs change
Advocating when something isn't working
Being your one local point of contact

Without active coordination, families often end up chasing providers, watching budgets and fixing service gaps themselves. We step in so you don't have to.

Depending on your approved funding level, we can both deliver services directly and coordinate additional supports through trusted providers.

Services we deliver - and coordinate

What we do
Delivered in-house — if you'd like

By our own local team

A popular choice — consistent, familiar faces and direct oversight. Always optional.

Coordinated for you

Through trusted providers

  • Personal care
  • Podiatry, physiotherapy & occupational therapy
  • Nursing support
  • Transport & assistive equipment

Keep the providers you know, or we'll help you find new ones.

You're never left juggling providers. We stay your central point of contact and oversee every service under your Support At Home package — so it all works together.

Why Northern Rivers families choose us over the big providers

Why families choose us

Choosing a Support At Home provider is a big decision — and the biggest name isn't always the best fit. We're not knocking anyone; this is simply the difference people tell us they feel.

A common experience with large providers
With Sistability
A national call centre, and a different person each time
One local team in Ballina who know you by name
"Coordination" that's mostly invoice processing and compliance
Active, hands-on coordination that turns funding into real support
Services subcontracted out
We deliver cleaning, gardening and home support ourselves — and coordinate the rest
You chase updates and follow-ups
We keep you and your family informed, and follow through
Slow to adjust when things change
We notice early, advocate, and adjust quickly
Profit goes to shareholders
A certified social enterprise that reinvests locally

What this means for you

The difference
More of your funding actually used — put to work on real support, not left sitting on a statement (Pete now uses around 95% of his).
One point of contact — no juggling providers or trying to interpret invoices.
Consistent, familiar faces — a team that gets to know you and how you like things done.
Someone keeping an eye on things — we notice changes at home and speak up early.
Reassurance for family — wherever they live, they know someone local is looking out for you.
Confidence to stay home — safe, supported and independent, for longer.

Seeing unused funds on your statement?

A growing balance usually means one thing — support that isn't reaching you. Those funds are there to make everyday life safer and easier at home, not to sit unused. Let's make your package actually work for you.

faqs
What is Support At Home?

It's the Australian Government's aged care program that helps you stay living independently in your own home. It funds services like personal care, cleaning, gardening, nursing and social support, tailored to your needs.

How much does Support At Home cost?

It's means-tested, so your out-of-pocket costs depend on your income and assets — clinical care is always free. The quickest way to get a realistic idea is our cost estimator. It's free, and it's an estimate, not a quote.

Do I need to be assessed first?

To access government funding, yes — you'll need an aged care assessment. If you're not assessed yet, you don't have to wait: you can start with us privately now and move onto your package once it's approved. We're happy to help you understand the steps.

Can I choose which services I receive?

Absolutely. Your plan is built around what matters to you — whether that's help around the house, getting out and about, personal care, or coordinating clinical support. You stay in control.

Do you deliver the services yourselves?

Many of our everyday services — like cleaning, gardening and social support — are delivered by our own team. Where you need something we don't provide in-house, we coordinate trusted providers on your behalf so it's all managed in one place.

What if I'm already with another provider?

You're free to switch, and we make it simple. Have a chat with us and we'll walk you through moving your package across with no gap in your care.

Which areas do you service?

The Northern Rivers region of NSW (subject to availability). Get in touch and we'll confirm we can support your area.

How do I get started?

The easiest first step is a free, no-pressure chat. We'll answer your questions, help you understand your funding, and map out the next step together.
