Spring Cleaning: Why Now Is the Right Time to Reset
There is something about the shift from winter to spring that makes people want to clear things out. The light changes, the air feels different, and suddenly the state of the house becomes more visible than it did through the darker months.
In the Northern Rivers, spring arrives early and brings its own particular character. The humidity builds, the garden races ahead, and what might have been manageable through July can look quite different by September. For many households, August is the sweet spot, warm enough to open everything up, but not yet into the heat and storm season that makes big cleaning jobs more demanding.
Here is why now is the right time to reset, and how Sistability can help.
The Case for a Spring Reset
A thorough clean at the start of spring does more than make the house look better. It removes the accumulated dust, mould spores, and allergens that build up through the cooler, closed-up months. It addresses the areas that tend to get skipped during regular cleaning, including behind appliances, inside cupboards, ceiling fans, window tracks, and bathroom grout. And it sets the home up for the busier, more social months ahead.
For older Australians, a spring reset has added significance. A clean, clutter-free environment is a safer environment. It reduces falls risks, improves air quality, and makes the home easier to maintain on an ongoing basis.
For families who manage the care of an older parent, organising a thorough spring clean can also be a meaningful act of support, one that makes a visible and lasting difference to how the home feels.
What a Sistability Spring Clean Includes
A spring clean with Sistability goes well beyond a regular maintenance visit. Our team works methodically through the home, covering:
Inside the home: Thorough cleaning of all rooms including bedrooms, bathrooms, and living areas. Ceiling fans and light fittings. Skirting boards and door frames. Inside and outside of cupboards. Behind and under furniture and appliances. Windows and tracks. Laundry and utility areas.
Outside the home: Outdoor areas, patios, and entertaining spaces. Cobwebs and external surfaces. We can also arrange gardening and yard maintenance as part of a broader spring reset package.
We work at the pace that suits the household. For some clients, a full spring clean happens in one visit. For others, particularly larger homes or those that need more attention, we schedule across multiple visits to get it done properly without rushing.
For Aged Care Clients
If you or a family member holds a Support at Home package, a spring clean may be fundable through your existing package. Many clients do not realise that a one-off deep clean or a seasonal reset can sit within their allocated funding alongside regular domestic assistance.
It is worth asking your care coordinator whether this is available within your current package level. Jenn and the Sistability team are happy to look into this for any of our existing clients.
For clients with other providers, this is also worth raising directly with your care coordinator.
For Everyone Else
If you do not hold a Support at Home package or NDIS funding, our spring clean services are available privately across the Northern Rivers. Whether it is a single room, a full house, or a combination of indoor cleaning and garden maintenance, we can put together a quote based on what you actually need.
The Garden
Do not forget the garden. The Northern Rivers growing season means that gardens can change dramatically between seasons, and what was manageable in June may have become quite unruly by August.
Our gardening team handles lawn mowing, weeding, pruning, and general garden maintenance. A garden reset at the start of spring sets the tone for the whole season and reduces the ongoing maintenance required through the warmer months.
Getting Ready for the Season Ahead
Spring in the Northern Rivers is a genuinely lovely time of year. The right preparation makes it even better: a clean, fresh home, a tidy garden, and one less thing to worry about as the weather warms up.
If you would like to organise a spring clean or garden reset, get in touch with our team. We are taking bookings now for August and September.
