We Can Do It! Sistability Joins Ballina Duck Fest with Rosie the Duck

This year at Ballina Duck Fest, Sistability is thrilled to take part in the fun by decorating our very own corporate duck… and we’ve named her Rosie.

But this Rosie is more than just colourful and spirited… she’s a tribute.

Recently, one of the last surviving original Rosie the Riveters passed away, reminding us how powerful her legacy still is today. That legacy - strength, resilience, community service, and stepping up when you’re needed - is at the very heart of who we are at Sistability.

So of course, when we decorated our duck for Ballina’s annual festival, we did it in true Sistability style: bright, bold, and deeply meaningful.

Why We Chose Rosie

Rosie the Riveter became an icon in World War II for the millions of women who stepped into essential roles at home and on the factory floor.

Her message We Can Do It wasn’t just a slogan.
It was a declaration of capability, courage, and contribution.

At Sistability, that message still resonates:

💪 Our team supports aged care clients so they can live safely and independently at home.
💪 We assist NDIS participants with dignity and care.
💪 We create flexible employment opportunities - especially for single mums, return-to-work parents, and young people entering the workforce.

Like Rosie, we show up every day, ready to do the work that matters.

And now with the passing of one of the original Rosies, her message feels even more important, more timeless, and more alive in our community than ever.

About Our Duck… Because of Course It’s Pink

Our decorated duck Rosie is proudly wearing her signature red polka-dot headband, a respectful and joyful nod to the original image that has inspired generations.

But she’s also equipped with modern tools of care work - sponges, scrub brushes, cleaning tools, celebrating the essential work that often goes unrecognised.

Whether it’s:
✨ helping someone keep a safe and clean home
✨ supporting a neighbour through their aged care journey
✨ delivering person-centred assistance with empathy and respect

…this is essential work worthy of pride.

And this duck reminds us of that.

What “We Can Do It” Means Today

During World War II, Rosie represented women taking on jobs they’d never been allowed to hold before.

In 2026, we interpret the message like this:

👉 Women (and men) serving their communities with skill and compassion
👉 Teams showing up with care, respect, and dignity
👉 Essential workers whose roles are critical but too often undervalued
👉 A social enterprise model that invests back into people and place

The original Rosies helped hold a nation together in a time of need.
Our Sis-tability team helps hold communities together today — one home, one person, and one conversation at a time.

See Rosie at Ballina Duck Fest 🦆

If you’re heading to Ballina Duck Fest, please say hello to our duck.
Take a photo. Share it. Tag us.

And remember the women ( past and present )who embody We Can Do It in every sense.

Because at Sistability, we believe:

We Can Do It.
We Will Do It Together.
And we’re so grateful to be part of a community that believes it too. ❤️
