Creating Opportunities: Inside Sistability’s Recruitment Day
On Wednesday, 18 February 2026, Sistability welcomed our community to a relaxed and friendly Hiring Day at the Ballina RSL. It was a wonderful opportunity for people to explore roles in cleaning, gardening and support services with our growing team. This was not your typical job fair. Instead, it was designed as an open and welcoming space where anyone curious about a career change or returning to work could come along, learn more and connect with us face to face.
A Real Conversation About Work That Matters
The purpose of the day was simple. We wanted to give people a clear and honest picture of what working with Sistability really looks like. From the everyday responsibilities to the deeper impact our team members have in the homes and lives of clients across the Northern Rivers, we aimed to share the full story.
Rather than focusing only on available positions, we spoke about what the roles genuinely involve. Whether it is domestic cleaning, commercial or post construction cleaning, gardening or support work, attendees were able to learn what skills are helpful, what personal qualities matter most and how we support our staff to succeed.
Throughout the morning, our team was available to:
Explain what a typical day looks like in different roles
Share details about training, flexibility and ongoing support
Answer questions in a relaxed and honest way
Have one on one conversations with anyone ready to take the next step
It was about breaking down barriers and showing that meaningful and flexible work is possible, even for those who may not have worked in this industry before.
Welcoming People From All Walks of Life
Our Hiring Day was open to anyone with interest and curiosity, regardless of previous experience. Some attendees were seeking stable, purpose driven work. Others were returning to the workforce after raising children, navigating a life change or looking for something more aligned with their values.
We encouraged people to come as they were, even if they did not meet every requirement listed in a job ad. At Sistability, attitude, reliability and a genuine desire to care for others are just as important as formal experience. While practical requirements such as transport and required checks are part of the process, we believe potential matters.
More Than Just Recruitment
For us, this event was about more than filling roles. It was about connection, community and confidence. We are proud to employ people who support older Australians, people living with disability and families across our region. Being able to share that mission in person was incredibly meaningful.
To everyone who attended on 18 February, thank you for taking the time to learn more about who we are and what we do. Whether you are now part of the Sistability team or still considering your next step, we appreciate you being part of the conversation.
If you were unable to attend but are interested in joining a purpose driven, community focused organisation, we would still love to hear from you. Reach out to our team to find out more about current opportunities and how you can become part of Sistability.
